This afternoon, I had one of the most exceptional and memorable dining experience with my friend Kelsey. It wasn’t at a five-star restaurant. There was no white glove service or some lady offering to spritz perfume in the washroom. It was at…
Monki Breakfast Club and Bistro.
From the moment we walked in to us leaving the restaurant, our host Stephano and the Monki crew were incredibly courteous and caring.
Kelsey and I felt like we just ate with a bunch of friends we’ve known for a long time even though it was our first time there.
- They have an array of hot sauce bottles proudly displayed in front of the open kitchen. As an avid hot sauce connoisseur, I knew I was in good company.
- I had the grilled capicolla, tomato and pesto egg benedict dripping with creamy hollandaise sauce while Kelsey indulged in the smoked salmon, asparagus and fried capers egg benny. The dish is generously accompanied by crispy and golden breakfast potatoes and a bowl of fruit salad. I was impressed with the selection of fruits: bananas, strawberries, blackberries and longan.
- I love the minimalist interior design from the exposed brick walls to the white table accessories. The big windows invites the natural sun into the cozy space.
With so many brunch and breakfast places in Calgary, Monki Breakfast Club and Bistro is another brunch hot spot with a long line-up but that is to be expected with any high-caliber restaurant in the city.
